Wayne "Dr P" Pernell became entranced with magic at the young age of eight. He began learning magic under the tutelage of family and friends and soon became a practicing magician performing for children's parties. Influenced by early TV shows - Doug Henning's specials, Mark Wilson's specials, and The Magician starring Bill Bixby, as a young magician he begged his parents to make regular trips to Hollywood to explore and procure new effects for his shows. By doing so, Wayne was introduced to some internationally known names. After his first trip to Hollywood's famous Magic Castle, this "Dr P" to be knew he wanted to Keep The Magic Alive and has been performing at parties, clubs, and organizations ever since.
Holding a strong desire to find ways to bring magic to his world every day, he started a magic club with a few friends at his high school and soon began performing in venues around Southern California.
He went on to college and then to graduate school studying psychology and ultimately earning his doctorate in clinical psychology. Now affiliated with local and international magic associations (past president of the local Society of American Magicians, member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Member of the Academy of Magical Arts/Magic Castle Hollywood, and a "VIP" at California Magic), Wayne "Dr P" Pernell has always held a love for working with people and encouraging creativity. In addition to performing for groups and special events in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, Dr P brings magical entertainment to his management consultation and executive coaching with teams across the country.
Somewhere along the way Wayne became "Dr P" - a name given to him by kids in a school where he was performing. That nickname stuck and soon he found adults referred to him that way as well. Now, his friends and clients affectionately call on the good nature, good humor, and amazing Magic of Dr P -
Recognizing that by blending magic with his people-focused endeavors, Wayne "Dr P" Pernell developed the philosophy of Enlightening, Entertaining, & Enriching.
